Byrd Surveying, Inc. (www.byrdsurveying.com) operating in the mid-state area of Tennessee, including Nashville and the surrounding counties, is aggressively seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

  • Party Chief – Performing boundary, topographic surveys, and construction stakeout. Experience with TDS SurveyPro or Carlson CE data collection software, robotic total stations, and GPS a plus.
  • CADD Technician – The position will be responsible for producing, plot plans, boundary, topographic and ALTA/NSPS surveys. AutoCAD and experience with Carlson Survey a plus.  Experienced personnel preferred but will train a motivated candidate.

CADD Technician Open to both remote and on-site arrangements.

These positions are for both locations in Murfreesboro and Clarksville Office.

CAD / Survey Manager

Job description:

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on CAD / Survey Manager who can both produce high-level technical work and train/develop junior team members. This role is critical to our company’s growth and requires someone who is not only skilled, but also patient, structured, and capable of building a team.

This is not just a production role—you will be responsible for setting standards, training entry-level technicians, and ensuring consistent, high-quality output across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage CAD and survey technicians (entry-level to intermediate)
  • Train and develop junior employees into productive team members
  • Process and manage drone (UAV) data, topographic surveys, and site models
  • Oversee CAD drafting for grading, utilities, and construction layouts
  • Ensure accuracy, timelines, and quality control across all deliverables
  • Coordinate with field crews and project managers
  • Establish workflows and standard operating procedures
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and improving efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in surveying, CAD, or civil/site development
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
  • Experience with drone/UAV data processing (Pix4D, DroneDeploy, etc.)
  • Proven experience training or mentoring employees
  • Strong understanding of construction layouts, grading, and utilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • FAA Part 107 drone license
  • Experience with GPS, robotic total stations, and field-to-finish workflows
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Professional Land Surveyor

Byrd Surveying, Inc. is a mid-size firm located in Tennessee, offering professional surveying and engineering services in the middle Tennessee area. We are seeking enthusiastic, aggressive candidates to fill our RLS/Professional Land Surveyor with a current license in the State of Tennessee.

Requirement/Qualifications:

  • Professional Land Surveyor Licensed in the State of Tennessee
  • The position will be responsible for the management and preparation of boundary, topographic and ALTA/NSPS surveys as well as other assigned tasks
  • Coordinate and manage CADD technicians to complete drawings pursuant to the above referenced tasks
  • Work in our Home Builders Department with our many Home Building Companies to resolve issues with Plot Plans, Foundation Inspections,
  • Elevation Certificates, Erosion Plans, and any issue that may arise with production of home builder documents
  • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD and Carlson Survey is required
  • Experience with Survey Pro Data Collection Software is desirable
  • Possess Excellent Attention to detail
  • Field experience of four years is required

Survey Party Chief

We have a great team of welcoming, experienced and professional individuals. We strive to encourage employees to be their best. Since 1997, Byrd Surveying has been providing Surveying services across Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. We are seeking a Survey Party Chief for its Murfreesboro office. Candidates will be providing leadership for the field crew, collecting field data, and transferring the field data to the office in a precise and concise manner.

Successful candidate will be:

  • Assisting the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and controlling field operations for projects
  • Reporting to the Project Manager each morning and afternoon for job status and assignments
  • Performing various types of surveys utilizing robotic total stations and GPS methods
  • Making sure time sheets are filled out daily with correct job number and detail of the work done
  • Reporting any defective equipment that need repair
  • Reporting any accidents or damage to the Project Manager and/or Supervisor
  • Getting service orders daily’s signed on the day the work is performed and turning them into the Project Manager/Supervisor
  • Ensuring that the surveying assistant prepared the necessary field equipment, field supplies, and safety equipment to perform the day’s tasks are in the truck and operating properly
  • Reporting any problems with crew members to the Project Manager
  • Other duties as assigned Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of 2 year surveying experience as a crew chief
  • Must understand mapping concepts • Must have ability to work outdoors
  • Must have experience with GPS and Survey Pro/ Carlson software

  • Driving our company vehicles to job sites
