Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on CAD / Survey Manager who can both produce high-level technical work and train/develop junior team members. This role is critical to our company’s growth and requires someone who is not only skilled, but also patient, structured, and capable of building a team.
This is not just a production role—you will be responsible for setting standards, training entry-level technicians, and ensuring consistent, high-quality output across projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage CAD and survey technicians (entry-level to intermediate)
- Train and develop junior employees into productive team members
- Process and manage drone (UAV) data, topographic surveys, and site models
- Oversee CAD drafting for grading, utilities, and construction layouts
- Ensure accuracy, timelines, and quality control across all deliverables
- Coordinate with field crews and project managers
- Establish workflows and standard operating procedures
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and improving efficiency
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in surveying, CAD, or civil/site development
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
- Experience with drone/UAV data processing (Pix4D, DroneDeploy, etc.)
- Proven experience training or mentoring employees
- Strong understanding of construction layouts, grading, and utilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- FAA Part 107 drone license
- Experience with GPS, robotic total stations, and field-to-finish workflows
- Strong communication and organizational skills
